People form human chain to press for establishment of medicalcollege

Karnal, Nov 5: Thousands of people took part in multi dimensional agitation programmes held under the aegis of Kalpana Chawla Medical College Nirman Committee here today.

The agitators, including students, prominent citizens, shopkeepers, social activists, employees, advocates and general public, made a long human chain through different roads of the city to pursue their demand of establishment of medical college at Karnal in the name of great astronaut Kalpana Chawla.

Convener of KCMNC and NIFAA chairman Pritpal Singh Pannu said the human chain was formed on 36.4 Km long roads covering almost all main areas of the city.

Social volunteers from about 100 social, cultural, religious, educational, trading, employees and other community organizations of Karnal district and general public formed this human chain to show their resentment against the step motherly treatment given to them by not fulfilling long pending demand of the people.

On this occasion, Pandit Zile Ram Sharma, MLA, (Assandh), Narender Sangwan, MLA, (Gharaunda) and Mamu Ram Gonder, MLA, (Nilokheri), Youth Congress General Secretary Virender Rahore and Congress leader Suresh Matlouda joined the human chain at Committee Chowk.

While all the three MLAs promised to raise the issue in the assembly, Mr Virender Rahore assured the committee members that he would bring the matter in the notice of party president Sonia Gandhi and General Secretary Rahul Gandhi .

About 15,000 employees of different Government departments of Karnal district performed their duties wearing black badges to register their protests against the non fulfillment of the demand.

Employees held gate demonstrations at their respective offices.

Lawyers also suspended their work on the call of District Bar Association of Karnal and participated in Human Chain.
