Nagaland govt to implement Retirement Act
Kohima, Nov 5 : The state government has notified that the Nagaland Retirement Act from Public Employment (Second Amendment) Act, 2009, issued by the government on October 30, should be implemented without any dilution.
In an official notification issued yesterday, Chief Secretary Lalthara reiterated that there was no stay order from the Supreme Court on the implementation of the Act and all those retired employees, who are keeping government documents and properties under their custody, should immediately hand them over to the new incumbents and obtain proper receipts.
The notification further ordered that any instance of obstruction or non-cooperation by the retired employees should be immediately reported to the administrative heads of departments concerned for necessary action which may lead to withholding and forfeiting pension benefits and others.
The CS reviewed the implementation of the Act in a high level meeting with senior government officials where it was reported that the Act has been smoothly implemented.
However, certain instances of non-cooperation by some retired employees have been reported who claimed that the Supreme Court had issued some directive to the state government not to proceed further in this regard.
With the implementation of the Retirement Act, about 4000 government employees would be affected. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said it would clear the opportunities for the unemployed youth of the state.
