Kalia distributes job letters to 1100 safai sewaks sans CM
Jalandhar, Nov 4 : Local Bodies and Industry minister Manoranjan Kalia distributed appointment letters to 1100 safai sewaks today in absence of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, at a function organised to dedicate the newly built Dr B R Ambedkar Administrative Complex to the public.
Punjab Chief Minister was scheduled to inaugurate the complex today, housing the offices of the Mayor, Commissioner, Joint Commissioner and various other administrative officers, but he did not turn up for the event to the utter disappointment of the BJP leadership and the minister in-charge of the department.
Mr Kalia explained to the audience as well the media that due to some technical snag developed in the helicopter of the Chief Minister, the proposed visit of the chief minister had been cancelled.
Addressing the audience, Mr Kalia claimed that the SAD-BJP government had fulfilled many of the promises made to the people and regularising the services of the safai sewaks engaged by the mohalla sanitation committees was one of the major commitments of the government which had been fulfilled.
He said that Jalandhar Municipal Corporation was the first one in the state which had regularised the services of 1100 safai sewaks in the first phase.
