Homeopathic doctor held for domestic help's murder
New Delhi, Nov 4 : A homeopathic doctor has been arrested here for killing his 55-year-old domestic help as she was allegedly blackmailing him after she saw him with a prostitute, police said Wednesday.
"The body of Gulabo (the domestic help) was discovered from a house in Bhagwan Nagar in southeast Delhi in a highly decomposed state on Oct 26. On investigation we discovered that the place where the body was found was taken on rent only 15 days back by N.K. Sharma, a homeopathic doctor," a police officer said.
"The deceased was working as a maid at Sharma's clinic for the last eight-nine years. During investigation, we found out that Sharma was last seen with Gulabo at the place Oct 20. But since the incident, he was missing," the officer said.
"On the basis specific information, he was arrested from inter-state bus terminal at Kashmiri Gate Tuesday while he was trying to leave Delhi," he added.
"On interrogation, he revealed that after retiring from the air force in 1989, he and his wife Kusum did a course in homeopathy. He had two sons and both were running a clinic in Badarpur area in south Delhi. But the couple had developed differences and since 2006 they were living separately. They finally divorced in October 2008," the official said.
"He revealed that during the separation, he used to call prostitutes. But about two months ago, Gulabo caught him with a call girl in the first floor of the clinic. After this Gulabo started blackmailing and defaming him. This had Sharma worried that his ex-wife and sons may come to know about it," he said.
"So he made a plan to get rid of her. On Oct 20, he took her to the rented house on the pretext of some treatment and gave her sedatives. When she fell asleep, he hit her on the head with a brick and then strangulated her with an electric wire. He then locked the place and left. Since then, he travelled to different places including Meerut, Bagpat, Mathura and Haridwar," the police officer said.
