Dannii Minogue's Hiv Hell
Australian pop star DANNII MINOGUE was once forced to have an AIDS test after a journalist threatened to publish a story suggesting she had contracted the deadly HIV virus.
The singer, who is now a judge on British reality show The X Factor, claims she received a nasty note threatening to splash the false story across the front pages unless she agreed to an interview.
Minogue, who revealed the terrifying episode in a TV chat with Piers Morgan, immediately made an emergency appointment with her doctor in a bid to prove the story wasn't true.
She says, "There's been a lot of things (in the press), and the worst one is actually something quite shocking, and it wasn't something that was even printed, but a situation that I found myself in.
"A bunch of flowers was delivered with a letter, which I have and I will always keep, from a journalist that clearly says, 'If you don't speak to us, we have it on good authority that you're HIV positive and we're running the headline.'
"There were many phone calls and I actually thought, 'There's only one way to stop this,' And it's just the weirdest thing, I drove down to my doctor's office, sat there, put my arm out and said, 'I need this test done immediately,' And all I could do was have this piece of paper slapped on their desk to say, 'No, I'm not HIV positive, there is no story.'"
