UP bypolls being seen as countdown for next Assembly election
Lucknow, Nov 4 : The by-elections for one Lok Sabha and 11 Assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh are being seen as a countdown for the coming 2012 Assembly elections in the state.
All the major political parties naming Congress, Samajwadi Party, Bharatiya Janata Party and Bahujan Samaj Party have pressed their senior leaders in the campaign which would end tomorrow evening.
A 'star wars' was witnessed at Ferozabad Lok Sabha seat, where hordes of Bollywood stars had campaigned for Congress and Samajwadi Party. Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi and cinestars Salman Khan, Govinda and Celina Jaitely sought support for Congress candidate and cinestar Raj Babbar, while Sanjay Dutt and Kalyan Singh campaigned in favour of SP candidate Dimple Yadav, daughter-in-law of party president Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Several senior political leaders and Chief Ministers of other states campaigned for their party candidates.
The campaigning picked-up after the Diwali festival and all parties gave a thrust to reach every nook and corner of the constituency to meet the voters.
The main issue for all party in the elections was development, but still the candidates were basking upon the caste factor.
