Army constructs model village in Kashmir
Srinagar, Nov 4 : The Rashtriya Rifles (RR), besiding engaged in counter insurgency operation, constructed a model village in a remote area in the frontier district of Kupwara, official sources said here today.
They said the Chandigam village, constructed by 28 RR under the aegis of 8 Sector RR at cost of Rs 77.79 lakhs on 128 kanals of land, was inaugurated by Minister of state for Tourism, PHE, Revenue and UEED, Nasir Aslam Wani.
The State of art Modal village is covered with lush green forest from all sides to add its scenic plandour.
For this ambitious project, the local population has provided cultivable land for this, with a concept and dream to provide baric modern facilities to the people and students of the area.
Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Showkat Ahmad Mir, SSP Kupwara, Brigadie D S Grewal, Commander 8 sector, senior officers of civil administration and thousands of people thronged from different area of Sogam were present.
Mr Nasir went round the shopping complex, primary Health centre, Community development centre, public park.
However,the multi facility community centre was the main attraction for people particularly youth, comprising of gymnastic, computer lab, library and carpet weaving facilities have made available.
All the infra structure of modal village was today handover to concerned civil administration.
