Indian cagers off to bright start at Indoor Asian Games
Ho-Chi-Minch City, Vietnam, Nov 3 : India's basketball campaign at the third Indoor Asian Games was off to a roaring start here today as both the men's and women's team won their first two matches with relative ease.
The Indian men's team outclassed Qatar 34-16 in their opening match before edging out a strong Kuwait 34-30 in an exciting clash.
Hareesh Koroth, Vishesh Bhriguvanshi and Dinesh Venugopal produced outstanding performances in both matches and are expected to spearhead India's campaign at the the 10-day event which is being played in the three-on-three format.
The women's team also came up with a fine display, opening their campaign with a 34-22 win over Jordon and thrashing hosts Vietnam 33-13 in their second match.
Geethu Anna Jose, while Anitha Paul Durai, Prashanti Singh and Raspreet Sidhu were the standout performers for India.
