Farooq upset over Services refusal to play in Kashmir
Srinagar, Nov 3 : Expressing anger, Union Minister Farooq Abdullah today said he will take up the issue of Services refusing to play three-day Ranji Trophy match here against Jammu and Kashmir for security reasons, in the next cabinet meeting.
''I am angry and upset because of the refusal of the Service to play here,'' Abdullah, who is president of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association, (JKCA) told reporters after the hosts got walk over from Service today.
He said how the Services feel insecure here when the Ambassadors of 22 countries participated in the Golf championship recently.
''When Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram said situation in the Kashmir valley has improved how can Service say it otherwise,'' he questioned.
Singh and UPA chairperson addressed public meeting in south Kashmir without bullet proof shield, he said and said he will take the issue of Service refusing to play here in the next cabinet meeting.
''How can the services said situation is worse here,'' he said adding several regional and national tournaments were held here in the recent past successfully.
''We are also going to write a letter to BCCI to take action against the Service team,'' he said.
Jammu and Kashmir got four points after getting walkover from Service in the three day Ranji Trophy match which was scheduled to start here from today.
