BCCI rules out immediate Indo-Pak series

Mohali, Nov 2 : The BCCI today ruled out any immediate possibility of holding an India-Pakistan series, citing the jam-packed schedule of the national team.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ijaz Butt today met the BCCI President Shahshank Manohar here on exploring the possibility of resumption of Indo-Pak series.

The PCB chairman is here in the country to convince his counterparts on playing One-day Internationals and Twenty20 matches between the two nations.

Chairman of the media committee Rajiv Shukla said the BCCI has not ruled out cricketing ties with Pakistan, and are contemplating playing against their neighbours in late 2010.

'We are playing Australia and after Sri Lanka will come over.

Besides, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is also scheduled.

Apparently, with tight schedule, it will not be feasible to resume the Indo-Pak cricket series immediately,' Shukla said.

'We will hold discussions on this issue after six to seven months. However, the final decision on series between the two sides will depend on whether we get a permission from Indian Government,' he explained.

Asked if there was any discussion held on playing at neutral venues, Shukla replied, 'It was not discussed as Indian team has a busy schedule.' India and Pakistan have not played any bilateral series since the 26/11 Mumbai attacks last year and the Indian government refused to send the national team to a tour of Pakistan in January this year.
