Home Minister Acharya returns from Delhi, meets Governor

Bangalore, Nov 2 : Karnataka Home Minister V S Acharya today called on Governor H R Bharadwaj, soon after his return from Delhi where he stayed for three days in the wake of political crisis in the BJP government.

The crisis, caused by the open rebellion by three powerful Ministers from Bellary district, continued for the seventh day with the rebels insisting on change of leadership and the Central leadership not favouring to change B S Yeddyurappa as the State Chief Minister.

Dr Acharya was with the Governor for over 30 minutes and reportedly briefed him about the current political situation in the state.

Official sources, however, said his visit to the Raj Bhavan was of a routine nature.

The rebel leader and Tourism Minister G Janardhana Reddy today left for Bangalore and held discussions with top leaders like L K Advani, Party President Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj and H N Ananth Kumar.

He was, however, unrelenting on the demand of replacement of the Chief Minister, sources in his camp said.

Mr Yeddyurappa is likely to visit the national capital on November five. He is likely to be summoned by the Party Central leaders who are engaged in defusing the crisis within the State BJP.

While the supporters of the Chief Minister chose to remain in the State, the dissident Legislators were camping in Hyderabad and Goa awaiting the decision of the Central party leaders.

Meanwhile, Mr Yeddyurappa participated in the foundation laying ceremony of the 'Aasare' scheme which was attended by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.

The project in historic Badami taluk of Bagalkot was the first of the Government's plan to relocate 300 flood prone villages.

Mr Chidambaram assured more support to the Karnataka Government which wanted to launch building of 5,00,000 houses for those who had lost their homes in the ravaging floods in October.

He thanked the corporate bodies and other institutions for coming forwad with offers to build thousands of houses.
