Rajapaksa visits Tirumala to pray for peace in Lanka
Tirumala, October 31 : Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa today said he had visited the Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala to pray for permanent peace in his country.
Talking to newspersons here, after offering worship to Lord Balaji, Mr Rajapaksa said his earlier visit to the temple was satisfactory and is visting the temple again to seek peace forever from Lord Venkateswara in his country.
The 63-year-old President, however, said the situation in Sri Lanka was peaceful.
When asked about the LTTE activities and rehabilitation of the Tamils in the island nation, Mr Rajapaksa did not reply and left the scene.
Security had been tightened in and around Tirumala and entries were restricted to the media, in view of threat from the LTTE.
Earlier, the President accompanied by his wife arrived at the temple entrance around 1650 hrs from Padmavathi Guest house here and was given a traditional reception by the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam(TTD) Chairman and Executive Officer.
