Pet dog better companion than partner on stranded desert island!

Melbourne, October 30 : Most people would prefer being stranded on a desert island with their dog than a human, a new study has found.

The survey found that 56 percent of the 1000 pet lovers questioned online could not stay away from their pets.

After the dogs, people chose their beloved but it only accounted for a mere 16 percent.

Cats with 12 per cent and mothers with 11 per cent followed, reports The Courier Mail.

With 5 percent of the votes, human best friends ranked fifth in the list.

Dr Mark Perissinotto from VetShop Australia, which conducted the survey, said: "Although the people who did the survey were pet lovers, it surprised me that the number was as high as what it was for dogs.

"I guess when you''''re in a small, tight space, a dog is better company because they can''''t talk back and they''''re fun to be around."

He further added that dog-humans connection has a strong past.

He said: "They work with us herding sheep and cattle, help at scenes of crimes, rescue people after disasters, protect our borders, go to war with us and guide the blind."
