Textile design centre at Surat, Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad, Oct 22 : Gujarat is set to become the hub of technical textile centre with new textile colouring and designing centres being proposed at Ahmedabad and Surat, Chief Minister Narendra Modi said today.
He spelt out ''Five F'' formula for the success of textile mills in Gujarat -- ''farm to fibre, fibre to fabric, fabric to fashion and fashion to foreign'' saying it would help make textile export from the state touch Rs 2,500 crore per annum.
Mr Modi was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the state-of-the-art Rs 850 crore Century Textile Mill set up by B K Birla group at Jagadiya village in Bharuch district. The environment-friendly plant was set up on 45 acre area and the remaining 60 acre allotted to the group was developed as greenland.
Mr Modi also announced that the small and medium industrial units located at Bharuch district's Jagadiya area will be provided gas supply during Gujarat's golden jubilee celebrations next year as the 2000 KM gas pipeline from Krishna Godavari basin would pass through the area.
B K Birla group chairman Basant Kumar Birla praised Mr Modi's leadership qualities for his dynamism and industry-friendly approach. Mr Kumaramangalam Birla was also present.
State Industry Minister Saurabh Patel said Gujarat was showing double digit growth in the last five years and it would continue the trend.
