Himachal Pradesh Govt to widen Theog-Hatkoti road on NH pattern: Dhumal
Shimla, Oct 21 : Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today said that state government has taken up the widening and improvement of the Theog-Hatkoti road on national highway pattern to facilitate the smooth plying of vehicles especially during the Apple season when large number of vehicles move to and fro the valley.
While addressing public gathering at Rohru, Mr Dhumal said that global tender has been awarded to Chinese Company, which has started the work but suspended the same since last few weeks.
He said that state Government has accorded top priority to the construction of road projects and that above mentioned project was a mega project and of vital importance for state Government.
Mr Dhumal said that the matter would be raised with the Union Government to direct the awardee company to complete the project within stipulated period of time, failing which the State Government would be forced to consider allotment of the work to other Company.
He said that the road condition in the Rohru subdivision would be improved and all link roads maintained to the satisfaction of local population. He said that State Government has also planned boring of tunnels underneath various high passes to shorten the distances and make the same all-weather connectivity to the people of both the connecting valleys.
He said that during past 22 months development had been given speedy momentum, which had come to a halt during proceeding, regime and the residents of the valley must have realized the same.
Mr Dhumal said that BJP nominee Khushi Ram Bal has dedicated his life to the cause of the people of Rohru since he had been raising local issues at the highest level to provide relief to the people.
He appealed to the electors of the assembly segment to create history be electing him in the by-elections scheduled for November 7, 2009 with massive margin and assured them that their contribution would not go un-rewarded.
