Inquiry ordered in chaining pulling in Mewar-Niz Exp

Kota, Oct 21 : An inquiry has been ordered into the reported incident of chain-pulling, by an undertrial in the Mewar-Nizammuddin Express, which allegedly led to the collision between the two trains near Mathura leaving at least 22 people dead early today.

According to Superintendent of Police(City) Bhupendra Sahu notorious criminal of the city Sajjid was being taken to New Delhi by a three-member police escort party for attending a court hearing, however, near Mathura he succeeded in giving a slip to the police on the pretext of going to attend nature's call.

Mr Sahu said there were reports that the accused ran away by pulling chain, however, it was to be verified whether he had pulled the chain.

The SP said an officer of Additional Superintendent of Police had been given the task of probing into the matter.

Mr Sahu said inquiry officer would also probe into reports that sudden stopping of the train led to the accident which left several passengers dead.

Meanwhile three constables who were escorting the accused, had been placed under suspension, Mr Sahu added.
