Yash Chopra honoured at PIFF 2009 as the Asian Filmmaker of the Year
Mr. Yash Chopra was felicitated at the 14th Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF) on Friday, 9th October 2009 as the Asian Filmmaker of the Year.
Pusan International Film Festival director Kim Dong-ho presented the award at PIFF- one of Asia's top film festivals held in South Korea. Asian cinema's elite were present at the Festival to pay tribute to Mr. Yash Chopra.
“You have to prove that you're good once again. You're only as good as your last film,” said Mr. Yash Chopra in a brief acceptance speech.
Yash Raj Films also had a major presence at the 14th PIFF with the screening of four of its films– Lamhe, Dhoom:2, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and New York in the ‘A Special Program in Focus: Retrospective on Yash Chopra’ section. Kabir Khan, Director of New York, who was also invited, was present at the Festival.
Supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism/ Metropolitan City of Busan, the PIFF attracts over 200,000 visitors and has over 10,000 participating guests from 55 countries.
