Gene Simmons' drug-free career success
October 12, 2009: KISS star GENE SIMMONS has attributed his successful career to his voracious appetite for sex and clean-living lifestyle.
The veteran rocker has managed to avoid succumbing to addiction by avoiding alcohol and drugs altogether since finding fame as the bassist for the hard rock band.
He tells PageSix, 'The only way to do it is no booze, no drugs. If you are not clean, you don't belong up there. I've never been drunk or high in my life. The only way to survive the long haul is to be straight-nosed. I've been here for four decades.'
But Simmons - who enjoyed romances with Cher and Diana Ross before settling down with Playboy Playmate Shannon Tweed - admits his one vice has always been sex, adding, 'The only temptation I've had in my career is of the female variety. And that's one you can enjoy.'
