'I need to prove myself': Dino Morea

Lady-charmer Dino Morea is all set to play the 'angry young man' in Acid Factory. The actor chats up India Blooms correspondent Sreya Basu in Kolkata

It has been long that you are away from the silver screen…

I know…but I didn't want to spoil my image to my fans doing meaningless films. After a long time, I have got a good film 'Acid Factory'. Now I need to prove myself in this film.

So your expectations are really high from 'Acid Factory'?

Yes and why not. So far my career in films has not been what I wanted. I have given my 100% to 'Acid Factory'…the role made me stretch a lot. It's not just changing hairstyle and wearing contact lenses, but I actually spent four days cleaning my mental plate and getting psychology involved with the character I am playing and how to present the character in a new way.

What is your character like?

I play a short-tempered, revengeful guy. Sorry, can't give you more details or else you won't go to watch the film (laughs).

You walked the ramp in Kolkata recently for 'Acid Factory' promotion. Does it really makes a difference?

The fashion show was arranged by McDowell's Siganture, this is the first time the brand is associating itself with a Bollywood film. I don't know about the promotional profit or loss, but seeing the people shouting 'Dino, We love you' and bringing the roof down, really gave a high.

Do you think an actor's career in Bollywood is gradually becoming like a game of gamble?

Partly so. I don't want to take names, but there are actors who are really good, but go wasted, while less-talented ones with Godfathers make it there smoothly. As for my career, I don't repent. Even if I have to wait for 15-16 years for a film like 'Acid Factory', I will do so, instead of dancing in the rains with arm –candies.

But despite suffering in the career-front, you remain a ladies dream…

(Laughs out aloud) I am thankful to God for that. Imagine being overlooked by beautiful women!

Are you a foodie?

Very much. I know I don't look like one. I have a dangerous sweet tooth. I love sweet curd and sweets, especially Bengali sweets like 'sandesh' and 'langcha'.

There are news that you have split with Lara Dutta…

To split with someone, you need to get involved with her. When did I or Lara declare that we are a couple?
