Ramesh Arvind now moves on to village-based films

By R.G. Vijayasarathy, Bangalore, Sep 22 : After acting in films set in cities, Kannada actor Ramesh Arvind was keen to work in rural-based scripts and says he accepted 'Crazy Kutumba', a remake of a Marathi film, because it provided him the opportunity.

Directed by B. Ramamurthy, the film is being produced by Ravi Joshi. The original Marathi hit was based on popular Marathi drama "De Dakke". Anant Nag and M.S. Umesh, two of the favourite artists of Arvind, play important roles in the film.

"We have made several changes in the Kannada version but the original is essentially a rural based story and would remain the same in my film too," Arvind told IANS.

"For the past 20 two years, I have been acting more in urban movies. I thought I need some change and I need to work in rural based themes. Since 'Crazy Kutumba' is an out and out comedy, I thought it would be better for me to experiment," he added.

Murthy and Arvind had earlier worked together in the film "Hey Sarasu", a remake of Malayalam hit "Chandralekha" directed by Priyadharshan.

Arvind has quite a few movies lined up for release. His forthcoming is Dinesh Babu- directed "Mooru Guttu Ondu Sullu Ondu Nija", in which he and Komal are playing the lead roles.

It will be followed by Mohan directed Krishna "Nee Late Aagi Baro" and "Hey Sarasu".

The actor, who turned 45 on Sep 10, has no plans to wield the megaphone in the near future.

"I have too many acting assignments right now. I am getting exciting roles so I cannot take up direction," he said.
