Abhishek Bachchan is new Yuva Biradari president
Mumbai, May 29 : Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan was sworn-in as the new president of non-political voluntary youth movement 'Yuva Biradari'.
Bachchan will be aided by new vice-president, actor Ritesh Deshmukh and industrialist Ashutosh Shirke, who will be full-time director general of the organisation.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony here yesterday, Bachchan said he was hesitant to take up such an important post, when offered by film director and member Trustee Council of Yuva Biradari, Ashutosh Gowarikar.
''I felt as an actor, I might be able to ‘act’ like the president, and not be one. But Ashutosh’s (Gowarikar) energy and vision inspired me to accept the post. He had given me an advice, when our film ‘Khele Hum Ji Jaan Se’ (2010) was receiving negative reviews from critics. He had said ‘Don’t ever judge yourself with other people’s expectations. Live according to the goals you have set for yourself.'' ''We will be here not to led Yuva Biradari, but to be with it.
We will set our own goals and work towards it step by step,'' he said.
The organization, founded by Padma Shree Kranti Shah and Balraj Sinha in 1974, has pursued various cultural, social and educational causes across India. (UNI)
