In wake of the recent brutal Maoists attack in Chhattisgarh, the government had proposed the setting up of an anti militancy outfit, the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC).
Interacting with the mediapersons, Patnaik expressed his discontent over the proposed NCTC. The opposition-ruled states have bitterly opposed NCTC since the plan's inception, alleging that the Congress government would use it to encroach on their powers.
India is grappling with Maoist menace in nearly 180 districts and militancy in Kashmir and northeastern states.
