'Self doubting' high-achievers may suffer from 'Imposter Syndrome'

Melbourne, December 10 : People who are outwardly confident and accomplished, but often suffer from self doubt and constantly fear being perceived as a fraud, might be suffering from 'Imposter Syndrome'.

According to Valerie Young, author of 'The Secret Thoughts of Successful Women', there are countless high-achieving people who don't experience an inner sense of competence or success, News.com.au reported.

Young said that people, who are often overwhelmed by their abilities, dismiss their achievements as merely a matter of luck, timing, outside help, charm or even computer error.

She added that people suffering from this syndrome feel that they've somehow managed to pass through the system undetected, and in their mind they constantly fear being caught.

It has been revealed that those working in the creative fields often suffer from this syndrome, with women being more affected than men.

Many A-List celebs like Kate Winslet, Denzel Washington and Tina Fey, among many others, suffer from the 'Imposter Syndrome'.
