Champion discus thrower Krishna Poonia loses seat in Rajasthan elections

Jaipur, Dec 9 : India's champion discus thrower Krishna Poonia has lost her seat in Sadulpur in the Rajasthan Assembly elections, where she represented Congress.

Poonia had formally joined the Congress party at an election rally in Churu, which happens to be her home district.

Poonia led an Indian clean sweep in the women's discus final on 11 October 2010, winning the Delhi Commonwealth Games gold medal with a throw of 61.51 metres.

She also won a bronze medal in the 2006 Doha Asian Games.
