The fourth edition of the Admiral's Cup witnessed 13 international navies participating in the event.
Commander Atul Sinha, who was the Principal race officer for Admiral's Cup 2013, talked about how the event has grown over the years with only nine countries participating in the second edition while eleven countries participated in the 3rd edition.
"This year there are 14 countries participating, including India, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Bangladesh, Fiji, Egypt, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Oman, Qatar, Tunisia, UAE (United Arab Emirates), UK (United Kingdom) and India will be keenly contesting the Admiral's Cup here at the Ettikullam bay (in India's southern Kerala state). The event has grown from strength to strength over the years," said Principal race officer for Admiral's Cup 2013, Commander Atul Sinha.
According to Commander Sinha, two lady officers had participated in the event this year, one from UK (United Kingdom) and another from Bangladesh.
Sub Lieutenant Anna Woods of UK stood first in the individual position followed by Khlfan Al Naqbi of United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the second position and Sub Lieutenant Nitin Bhardwaj of India at the third.
Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar PVSM, Commandant of the Indian Naval Academy was the chief guest for the closing ceremony on Saturday.
Admiral's Cup is an international yachting regatta which started in 1957, and was for many years known as the unofficial world championship of offshore racing.
