Newcastle beat Manchester United

Manchester, Dec 7 : Newcastle United defeated Manchester United by 1-0 as the defending champions suffered back to back home loses for the first time in 11 years.

Manchester United lost their third home game in the Premier League this season when Newcastle United beat the Red Devils at the theatre of dreams to snap a long winless streak at the Old Trafford.

Manchester United were completely outplayed in the midfield as Newcastle's central midfielders, Anita and Tiote, controlled the game
quite comprehensively. A lacklustre display by by Phil Jones and Tom Cleverley at the centre of the park for Manchester United increases
the woes for David Moyes with Michael Carrick out with injury until mid-January.

The first half was played out pretty even-stevens in terms of domination.

In the 42nd minute, a moment of semi-controversy occurred as Hernandez appeared to go down after Coloccini threw out a wafty leg in
the box. The referee remained unmoved and replays showed Coloccini had moved his leg away.

In the 45th minute, Debuchy nipped in behind Evra to collect a diagonal ball and smash it at De Gea from a tight angle for the keeper
to pull off an excellent reflex save.

In the 51st minute, Van Persie picked out Hernandez with an absolutely stunning diagonal ball. The Mexican pulled it down, took a touch and saw his drilled effort saved by Krul.

The 54th minute saw Evra hitting the post as the left-back got his head to a cross and his angled effort came off the woodwork before
apparently striking the arm of Anita, who was guarding the post. No penalty was given though, much to the discontentment of the home team.

The goal came in the 61st minute when Cabaye slotted home with the help of a deflected shot off Vidic. Sissoko beat Evra to the ball on
the left before squaring for his team-mate(Cabaye).

In the 72nd minute Van Persie's goal was disallowed when he had the ball in the back of the net with a header but he was rightly ruled
offside when collecting a flick-on from Jonny Evans after a free-kick by Januzaj.
