A Mumbai court on Friday convicted six people in connection with the Kavdas Ashram case where 19 special children were allegedly starved, tortured and sexually abused at the orphanage in 2010.

Principal Sessions Judge Shalini Phansalkar-Joshi acquitted two others in the case.

Six people were convicted for rape, sodomy, attempt to murder, torture, neglect to culpable homicide.

Kavdas Ashram owner Pundlik Gole was sentenced to life imprisonment, while his wife Sakshi was sent to jail for seven years.
