TRS calls for shutdown to oppose Rayala-Telangana proposal

Hyderabad, Dec 5 : Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrashekhar has called for shutdown in the 10 districts of Telangana today against the proposed move of inclusion of districts from Rayalaseema in the proposed state.

According to Television reports, normal life was disrupted as around thousands of buses, autos refused to ply on roads today.

Expressing displeasure over the Centre's reported proposal of Rayala Telangana, Chandrasekhar Rao had earlier said that people of Telangana would never accept a move to merge Telangana and some districts from the Rayalseema region.

Rao also said that TRS would protest if the Centre approves the proposed Rayala Telangana.
The call for shutdown has been made today as the Union cabinet is set to meet to discuss the Group of Ministers' (GoM) report on Telangana and the draft bill on the creation of the new state.

Emerging from an hour-long meeting last night, Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde told reporters that the GoM has completed the process and the Cabinet will discuss the recommendations on Thursday.

"The Cabinet took a decision on October 3 to form a Group of Ministers, and they wanted recommendations from the Group of Ministers. The final meeting has taken place, and the recommendations will be discussed in the Cabinet tomorrow,' he said.

The GoM headed by Shinde, was constituted to address all the issues that need resolution at the central and state government levels in the matter.

Earlier on November 18, GoM completed the process of discussions with various stakeholders from the Telangana, Seemandhra and Rayalaseema region.

On October 3, the Union Cabinet had decided to go ahead with the process for the creation of a separate Telangana state carved out from Andhra Pradesh.
