Kashmir could trigger war: Nawaz Sharif

Islamabad, Dec 4 : Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said Kashmir is a 'flashpoint' which could trigger another war between India and Pakistan, according to media reports in the neighbouring nation.

He said there was a need to solve the Kashmir issue early.

"Kashmir is a flashpoint and can trigger a fourth war between the two nuclear powers at anytime," Sharif was quoted as saying by Dawn News in his address to the budget session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Council.

According to Indian media, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said Pakistan has no scope to win a war against India.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Prime Minister's Office has denied that Sharif made any such remark.

"The news item appearing in the newspaper was fabricated and PM Nawaz Sharif never said the Kashmir issue could trigger a war between the countries," a spokesman of the Pakistan Prime Minister Office told Geo News.
