Gujarat Police get 24 hrs custody of Sai

New Delhi, Dec 4 : A Delhi court on Wednesday granted one-day transit remand of jailed self-styled godman Asaram Bapu's son Narayan Sai to the Gujarat Police.

The Delhi Police on Wednesday said they have arrested Narayan Sai from the Delhi-Haryana border in connection with rape and sexual assault cases against him.

The court granted Narayan Sai's one-day transit remand to the Gujarat Police so that he could be produced before a Surat court.

The arrest was made by the Crime Branch.

Sai was declared a proclaimed absconder by a court after he remained untraceable for 59 days. A non-bailable warrant was also issued against him.

A sexual assault complaint was lodged by two sisters in Gujarat's Surat city against Asaram and Sai.

While the elder sister had alleged that she was raped by Asaram, the younger one had accused his son of committing the same crime in Surat.

They said that they are Asaram's followers and the incidents reportedly took place between 2002 and 2004.

Asaram was sent to the Jodhpur Central Jail on Sept 2 after the court remanded him to a 14-day judicial custody first for assaulting a minor.

Earlier, Asaram passed potency test, which established that he is medically fit and sexually potent.

The 15-year-old girl, who was staying at Asaram's hostel in Rajasthan's Jodhpur, had filed a First Information Report (FIR) at Kamla market police station in Delhi alleging she was sexually assaulted by the godman.
