SAG to launch Lusofonia games mascot

Panaji, Dec 3 : The Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) is all set to host the launch of the official song and mascot of the 2014 Commonwealth Games of the Portuguese nations - Lusofonia Games on Dec 10.

Indian sporting champions Milkha Singh and Sania Mirza are likely to be present on the occasion along with the state officials, sportspersons, designated Chef-de-Missions of the participating countries and ACOLOP members among others.

The multilingual song in Konkani, Portuguese, Marathi, Hindi and English languages has been scripted by St Andre Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Vishnu Surya Wagh - who is also a well known poet.

Goan nightingale Lorna along with Sonia Shirsat will together share their voice to the song.

The song has been composed by Goan musician Mukesh Ghatwal.

Goa will be hosting the games in nine disciplines with participation from over 1500 athletes from 12 countries including Brazil, Angola, Cape Verde, East Timor, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea- Bissau, Macau (China), Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe, Sri Lanka and the host nation Goa (India).

The 3rd edition of the games will be held over the period of 12 days from Jan 18 to 29, 2014.
