First travel guide on magical Indian cinema shooting locations launched

Mumbai, Nov.21 : Bollywood filmmaker Imtiaz Ali launched the first ever travel guide on the magical shooting locations of Indian Cinema here.

Taking inspiration from Bollywood films, the book collates India's travel destinations to list numerous locations from Mumbai to Delhi, from Ooty to Lucknow, among many others.

"Firstly to push for this concept, I thought it was really shocking that somebody has come up with this because what has happened, Daniel, is that we are a very movie-crazy nation and there are actually in places like Manali and Shimla, etc, there are tourism agents who take you on a 'Jab We Met' tour, for instance, ('Jab We Met' is one of the movies that I have made) but for everyone for various movies there are tours by the names of movies."

Along with interesting Bollywood trivia, the travel guide also includes vivid and interesting travel experiences by Bollywood celebrities.

"Our mission is the same as it has always been. It is just meant to inspire and to make people travel and doing that through films is something that is very special. I hope people enjoy it,"said CEO, Lonely Planet, Daniel Houghton.

In the book , Indian film director and producer Karan Johar recounts his travel experiences and discusses about the magical shooting locations of Mumbai and actress Nargis Fakhri and director Dibakar Bannerjee recount the special appeal of Delhi. Director Mahesh Bhatt gets nostalgic about Ooty where he shot his first film 'Kaash'.

The book is designed by Lonely Planet, the largest travel guide book publisher in the world.
