Ex cop files defamation case against Modi

New Delhi, Nov 19 : Former Gujarat DGP R.B. Sreekumar on Tuesday registered a defamation and conspiracy case against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for allegedly launching a malicious campaign against him by raking up the two-decade-old ISRO spy case.

Besides Modi, BJP chief Rajnath Singh, party spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi, and eminent scientist Dr S Nambi Narayanan have also been also sued by the retired cop.

"The BJP has undertaken a malicious propaganda against me by raking up a closed case," said Sreekumar.

Earlier BJP Spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi had alleged that the anti-Modi policeman was part of the Intelligence Bureau team which illegally detained and fabricated a case against former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan.

The BJP had also alleged that Sreekumar had levelled charges of fake encounters against the Modi government in Gujarat as a quid pro quo for the UPA dispensation.
