'Ram-Leela' stars promotes film in Kolkata
Bollywood stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone was in the city on Tuesday to promote their upcoming film 'Ram-Leela'.
The film has been directed by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and is scheduled to hit the silver screen on Nov 15.
The film stars Ranveer Singh as 'Ram' and Deepika Padukone as 'Leela' and is said to be an adaptation of Shakespeare's epic love story Romeo and Juliet, set in violent times.
Richa Chadda of the 'Gangs Of Wasseypur' fame plays a significant role in the film who tries to bring Ram and Leela close to each other while Barkha Bisht plays a supporting role opposite Abhimanyu Shekhar Singh.
Ranveer Singh plays a Gujarati boy who had to gain some weight for the film.
Deepika on the other hand looks stunning in the 30 kg ghagra in the song 'Nagare Sang'.
Initially shot in Gujarat, some sequences of Ram-Leela were shot in Udaipur particularly at the Udaipur Palace and Gangaur Ghat where a song sequence has been shot in freezing cold water for about 45 minutes. The story of the film is set in Gujarat.
"The story of Ram-Leela is a pure love story. The film doesn't have any content that would hurt people's emotion. The film has passed the censor board and I don't think that it would be problem at all," said Deepika when asked about the controversy regarding the story of Ramleela.
She said that her all time favourite romantic films are Devdas, Ye Jawani Hai Deewani and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
Praising Deepika, Ranveer said, "Deepika has always experimented with her roles starting from Veronika in Cocktail to Naina Talwar in Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. And then she did Chennai Express which is totally a different role altogether. Now people will see Deepika in a totally new avatar in Ram-Leela. She is brilliant when it comes to acting."
Deepika commenting on director Sanjay Leela Bhansali said, "He is a brilliant director who knows how to get the best from an actor. He never approaches with the way that we actors are generally used to. His way of directing the films are totally different."
Deepika choose Ranveer Singh when compared to Ranbir Kapoor and said that when it comes to acting in this generation, Ranveer Singh is the best actor.
"I really wanted to be a Bengali girl and I am obsessed about being a Bengali girl. I would love to work with Pradeep Sarkar because I feel that he brings out the Bengali beauty very nicely," said Deepika.
The latest song from the film, 'Nagade Sang Dhol Baaje' showcasing Deepika doing the Garba has already touched a million hearts.
Also Priyanka Chopra's jaw-dropping dance moves is worth praising.
