Will chop off Congress workers' wrists: TMC leader

Kolkata, Nov 9 : A leader of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress (TMC) hs reportedly threatened to chop off the wrists of rival Congress party worker's if they try to pull down the hoardings of his party supremo.

"We will not remain quiet if you (Congress workers) beat up our supporters and tear flags and posters of our party and Mamata Banerjee. Our supporters will cut off your wrists if you dare to do so," said TMC's Birbhum district president Anubrata Mandal.

He was addressing a TMC event at Katwa in Burdwan district.

Reacting to Mandal's remarks, opposition slammed the state government.

"Anubrata Mandal's remark is not surprising. TMC stands for violence. He has the backing of the government," said West Bengal Congress leader Om Prakash Mishra.

"After acquiring power, Mamata Banerjee and her party are taking revenge against the Left, especially the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI-M]," said CPI-M state secretary Biman Bose.
