Kolkata, Nov 7 : Kolkata based school MC Kejriwal Vidyapeeth has recently organized a trip for 22 students accompanied by two teachers, to Orlando, Florida, USA, to attend a training program at the Kennedy Space Center of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

The 3-day intensive workshop on Robotics provided a firsthand experience of space technology, micro gravity, rocket designing and launching; and learning about the various other aspects of NASA's space program. The students also had the privilege of interacting with the astronauts of NASA.

"The importance of providing the students with practical experience rather than theoretical one is increasingly being understood. "The entire experience was a once in a lifetime opportunity for all the students who got a chance to learn the intricate science of Robotics and experiment with robotics motion, touch and light sensors and ultra sound sensors as well. Their excitement was hardly containable", said Neelkanth Gupta, Principal, MC Kejriwal Vidyapeeth.

At NASA, the 22 students who had visited were provided hands on experience on for programming, assembling, managing calculations and taking care of logistics.

The necessary robotics kits were supplied to them with relevant instruction booklets. With a nominal level of demonstration from the NASA instructor, Jim Christensen and his assistant Magen, the students picked up and made robots as a part of the workshop.

This educational tour also included visits to places like the Disney World, Sea World, and Universal Studios in Orlando; Niagara Falls in Buffalo; Times Square, Statue of Liberty, Madam Tussaud's in New York.
