The couple will then head to neighbouring Sri Lanka, where Prince Charles will represent her majesty the Queen at the 2013 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

"In the trip, starting Nov 6 and ending Nov 14, the Royal Highnesses will undertake a broad range of engagements to promote the strong UK-India partnership in key areas such as conservation, education, growing business links, women's empowerment and training," a statement by the British High Commission here said.

The royal itinerary includes a meeting with President Pranab Mukherjee and Vice President Hamid Ansari. The couple will also meet senior business leaders in Mumbai. Receptions for civic, business and cultural leaders in all the major locations of the tour are also on the agenda, the statement said.

The British High Commission said the Prince of Wales has made seven official visits to India earlier. This would be the prince's third visit to India with the Duchess of Cornwall.
