Joe Dawes giving 'shattered' Ishant bowling art boost ahead of third ODI against Oz

Sydney, Oct 22 : Indian bowling coach Joe Dawes, who is a former player for Australian domestic side Queensland, is working hard to save India's fast bowling hope Ishant Sharma, who is lacking confidence after conceding 30 runs in one over during India's dramatic loss against Australia at Mohali in the third ODI.

The former fast bowler, who played 76 first class games for Queensland in the late 90s and early 2000s, may emerge as a major threat to Australia's hopes of taking over as the world's premier one-day side if he boosts Sharma's confidence and makes him stand up in the future ODIs, with the runs flowing and wickets at a premium.

According to News.com.au, Dawes role as India's bowling coach stands between Australia and the ICC's ODI top ranking, which the tourists can claim with wins in the final four matches of the seven-game series they currently lead 2-1.

The report mentioned that Australia might have found their bowling leader in Mitchell Johnson, who is embracing the enforcer role and on Saturday bowled with fearsome pace to take 4-46 and rattle the Indians.

However, the report mentioned that Sharma and reserve paceman Jaydev Unadkat spent more than a hour in the middle of JSCA Stadium in Ranchi working with Dawes ahead of the third Test, while the rest of the Indian team enjoyed a day off training on Monday.

Even though Sharma has disappointing figures of 2-189 with an economy rate nearing eight runs per over across the first three games this series, India captain MS Dhoni suggested it would be unwise to dump a fast bowler with 51 Tests and 69 ODIs experience after just one or two games.
