The Akhilesh Yadav's government has decided to tighten the security arrangements to ensure that the VHP is unable to defy the ban.
According to reports, 2000 jawans of the Rapid Action Force and the Provincial Armed Constabulary have been deployed to help the local police maintain law and order.
The government earlier took the decision to ban the yatra in view of security concerns in the wake of the recent communal violence in Muzaffarnagar and surrounding areas.
At the event, the VHP was expected to take a fresh pledge to construct the Ram temple in Ayodhya, reports said.
Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh government had denied permission for a VHP yatra in the state that was scheduled to start from Aug 25.
