Happy if Modi is PM: Advani

Ahmedabad, Oct 16 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) patriarch LK Advani on Wednesday said he would be happy to see Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the next Prime Minister of India.

"I will be happy if Modi becomes the PM," said Advani, who was earlier opposed to Modi's elevation as the PM candidate of BJP, at a public gathering here.

Advani's endorsement of Modi for the first time in a public forum is a morale booster for the Gujarat Chief Minister who has been seen a polarising force even within the BJP.

Advani said Modi always thinks of new things and praised him for his governance in Gujarat that drew admiration from India and abroad.

Modi and Advani on Wednesday inaugurated Institute of Infrastructure, Technology, Research and Management (IITRAM) in Ahmedabad.
