Daniel Radcliff raises gay issues with latest film 'Kill Your Darlings'

Washington, Oct 11 : Daniel Radcliff has raised the issue of the struggle of LGBTQ community by drawing a link with his latest film 'Kill Your Darlings'.

The story is based in 1940's and explores the widespread homophobia in the American society at that time, CBS News reported.

The 24-year-old actor pointed out the similarity of the film with the problems faced by the LGBTQ community even in modern times.

Radcliff said that it wasn't a political film, but there is a parallel which is to be drawn with what's happening to a lot of gay men in Russia.

It is an issue which is not necessarily dealt with the same level in the 1940s in America, but it is still very much present and it's essential that people are reminded of it, he said.

The 'Harry Potter' star will play the role of 'Howl' poet Allen Ginsberg who is in a unique relationship with his troubled peer, Lucien Carr, who was involved in the real-life murder case of his admirer, David Kammerer.
