Hesson says Black Caps prepared to face 'spin assault' in Bangladesh

Johannesburg, Oct 5 : New Zealand coach Mike Hesson has said that they are prepared to face a strong spin assault from Bangladeshi bowlers during their first Test series in the country after five years.

The last time New Zealand played Tests in Bangladesh in 2008, they won 1-0 following a three-wicket win in Chittagong, which is also the venue of the first match starting on Wednesday.

According to Sport24, Hesson insisted that they are not underestimating the Bangladesh side even though they won against them in 2008 as they are aware that the hosts are a tough side, although he added that the key to their success on the tour this time would be their ability to play spin and strike with the new ball to control the opposing batsmen.

Hesson further said that his team face a lot of spin every time they tour the sub-continent, adding that although spinners are going to take a lot of wickets because they bowl 90 per cent of the overs, New Zealand batsmen would be prepared as they have gained extensive experience in this regard.

Hesson also said he hoped that the tourists will deliver through their seam bowlers, who were fast learning the art of reverse-swing that could play a big role on the slow, abrasive pitches in Bangladesh.

New Zealand's Test squad: Brendon McCullum (captain), Corey Anderson, Trent Boult, Doug Bracewell, Dean Brownlie, Peter Fulton, Mark Gillespie, Tom Latham, Bruce Martin, Hamish Rutherford, Ish Sodhi, Ross Taylor, Neil Wagner, BJ Watling, Kane Williamson.
