Maharashtra: 1 killed in Navratri stampede

Mumbai, Oct 5 : At least one person was killed in a stampede at a Mahrashtra temple during Navratri celebrations, said police on Saturday.

According to the police, a huge crowd had gathered for an annual Navratri festival ritual at Tulja Bhavani Temple in Tuljapur in Osmanabad district of Maharashtra on Friday night when the stampede occurred.

The situation is under control now, said a senior police official.

Tulja Bhavani Temple is considered as one of the 51 Shakti Pithas.
