"Yes, we are very happy that the dates have been announced and we are all ready for it. I can say with full confidence and sincerity at my command that in Chhattisgarh we will form the government with absolute majority. We will win by a thumping majority," Jogi said.
Jogi remained silent on the Congress' Chief Ministerial candidate for Chhattisgarh, and said that it was not in his Party's tradition to project any names prior to elections.
"In Congress, we don't follow the tradition of projecting anybody in advance. After the elections, the MLAs get together, the observers go from here, and give their recommendation to the Congress President and then she announces the name of the Chief Minister. That is the tradition we have mostly followed and we will continue to follow that," he said.
Earlier today, the Election Commission announced that Chhattisgarh will be going for elections in 2 phases, and the notification for 1st phase has been decided for 18 October, while the notification for 2nd phase has been fixed for 1 November.
