Telangana a political, electoral decision: Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata, Oct 4 IANS) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has described the union cabinet's clearance to creation of Telangana as a separate state as a decision guided by politics and elections.

"It is only a political decision and an election decision," Banerjee said in her Facebook post.

Banerjee, who has been opposing the demand for creation of a new state of Gorkhaland from parts of West Bengal, said: "Five years ago, at the time of last general election, creation of a new state of Telangana was conceived. Now, after 5 years, just when another general election is knocking at the door, decision on a separate Telangana state has been taken".
