The association which is poised to enter its Golden Jubilee in 2014 also elected Anil Rairikar, managing director, TUV India Pvt. Ltd. and Yatinder Pal Singh Suri, Country Head, Outokumpu India Pvt. Ltd. as Deputy Chairmen.
"It is truly an honour to take forward the excellent work that has been carried out by the secretariat", said Trivedi.
"This year we endeavour to focus on putting solid systems in place, supporting skill development, recognizing merit and enhancing our collective experience and knowledge through participative detailing," he said.
The changed agenda for 2013-2014 proposed by Y. S. Trivedi emphasized on passionate commitment to quality and delivery, upgrading the national standard of manufacturing processes and technologies and implementation of higher levels of mechanization.
All PPMAI members were encouraged towards working to diversify in niche products and work toward positioning the PPMAI brand on a global platform.
K. Ravindranath, Executive Vice President, Leading Hydrocarbon Mid and Downstream Business, Larsen and Toubro Limited, who was the Chief Guest at the function said, "The competitiveness in the manufacturing industry is a consequence of internal and external drivers. We cannot control the latter, but we most certainly can dedicate our energies to strengthening internal drivers such as talent driven innovation, development of supplier networks, operational efficiencies and value driven cost competitiveness. The entire manufacturing supply chain has to achieve economies of scale, efficiently meeting all parameters of cost, quality and delivery."
"It is very inspiring to see a room full of veterans, many former Chairmen of PPMAI, who have all contributed towards the growth of the Indian industry. I am glad to see that global majors in the sector such as Larsen and Toubro are supporting the growth of the PPMAI. All members must look at learning from one another and plan on diversifying their activities to offset impact of the recession by following the example of companies such as the Chemical Process Equipments business of Larsen and Toubro and other industry leaders," concluded former Chairman of PPMAI and Executive Director and Member of the Board, Uhde India Pvt. Ltd., P.D. Samudra.
The meeting highlighted the need to build a strong manufacturing base and continuously improve processes to effectively compete in international markets.
The new PPMAI is confident of achieving its goals and enabling all its members to individually and collectively secure bellwether positions in the global market.
