Tollywood actress Rituparna Sengupta has inaugurated the web based services of the premier West Bengal electricity supplier Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) in Kolkata on Thursday. The CESC in a plan to reap in more customers has commenced its e-services on the eve of puja festivals. CESC Chairman, Sanjiv Goenka said, "This is just a step forward to reach out to consumers through easy and simple procedures. We want to make CESC as a company more customer centric." The services could be availed through a home made system by the CESC at its official website. In a bid to escalate the pace of customer feedback a brand new facebook page has also been incorporated recently by the company. Goenka said, "This is the first interactive facebook page of a power utility in india." The company's e-services include applying for new connection or installing air conditioners, changing of consumer names, lodging complaints, checking the status of applications at every stage, making payments online etc. The e-services also provide advance intimation of meter-reading date through sms alerts. The consumer can now count his electricity bill with the available consumption units online through its energy calculator. Goenka also informed about the upsurge in the number of puja pandals who have applied for makeshift electricity connections throughout the state. This year CESC is expecting to provide power connections to around 3600 puja pandals whereas 3540 puja pandals utilised the company's electricity services last year.

This year till date 3260 applications have been received from puja organizers.

Likewise the previous year, the state administration has opened 14 single window operation centres for companies to smoothly run their business during the puja festivals.

The CESC personnel will remain available at all the 14 locations to ensure a safe and perpetual supply of electricity to the puja pandals, said Goenka.

Around 162 radio linked and mobile connected CESC service vans will be placed at different strategic locations with operational teams at the company's district offices.

CESC personnel will also be available at the police control rooms to fecilitate puja organizers and visitors with informations if any accident occurs.
