Shinde who read out the Cabinet statement here today said that a Group of Ministers (GoM) would be constituted to look into various issues between the two states.
"The approval of the Cabinet was sought for the creation of a new state of Telangana by bifurcating the existing state of Andhra Pradesh. The approval of the cabinet was also sought to constitute a group of ministers in order to address the issues that need resolution of Central and state government levels," he told media here today.
He further said the Cabinet has approved that the Group of Ministers would determine the mechanism to ensure appropriate legal and administrative measures for both successive states of the government to function from the joint capital of Hyderabad for ten years
He also said that the GoM would work towards ensuring the safety and security of the residents in all the three regions of Coastal Andhra, Rayalseema and Telangana, including the guarantee of their fundamental rights.
Shinde also said that the Group of Ministers would also look at the financial assistance for the state of Andhra Pradesh after the creation of Telangana, and to meet the special needs of the backward region and the district.
'Cabinet further sought a Group of Ministers to determine a special financial disbursement that may be required from the Central Government in addition to the revenue that would be available with the state of Andhra Pradesh for the formation of new capital for the state and to meet the special needs of the backward region and the district," he added.
The Cabinet resolution would be sent to President Pranab Mukherjee with the recommendation that he refers it to the Andhra Pradesh state legislature.
Earlier this evening, protestors opposed to the bifurcation of the state, demonstrated near the Prime Minister's residence.
