National Institute of Professionals (NIP) NGO has launched a Durga Puja Guide in braille for the blinds.


It will also be launching a Durga Puja Guide for other differently able persons and senior citizens.

In these puja guide, there are the lists of 200 puja committees under forum for Durgotsab who have assured to arrange a barrier free access for differently able persons and senior citizens.

NIP NGO announced 'Differently Abled and Senior Citizen Friendly Durgotsab Awards' for the year 2013 on Thursday in collaboration with Forum For Durgotsab, Department of Social Welfare, Government of West Bengal.

The event was graced by the presence of eminent personalities like Debasish Kumar, Mayor-in-Council, KMC, Sabitri Mitra, Minister-in-Charge, Department of Women Development and Social Welfare Government of West Bengal, Tapas Roy, Chairman CSTC, Anik Dhar, singer, Uttam Ganguly, former district governor of Rotary, Mita Banerjee, Commissioner of Disablity, Government of West Bengal.

Speaking about the event, Debajyoti Roy, Secretary, NIP NGO said, "On the onset of this festive season, when everybody desires to swing with the impeccable celebratory mood we have decided to devote our self to support a unique fight for humanity, right and equality to enthrall our social commitment. Since the inception of development of Braille Script, it has followed different phases and the Script has crossed two hundred milestones by this time and the dream to bring the visually impaired to the mainstream still lives on."
