Saradha: Police grill Kunal Ghosh

Kolkata, Oct 3 : The Kolkata Police on Thursday interrogated suspended Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kunal Ghosh for long hours in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam, reports said.

According to reports, this was the fifth time Ghosh was interrogated by the police since Sept 21.

On being asked about the possibility of getting arrested, Ghosh told Economic Times, "It is the police which can only reply your question about my arrest. There is no scope for speculation about my arrest. I am cooperating with the police at my level best and I also demanded a CBI investigation into the scam."

After being show-caused by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee a week ago, the TMC on Sept 28 suspended party's Rajya Sabha MP Ghosh, who was associated with the tainted Saradha group company's media arms.

Apart from Ghosh, the three MPs, who are facing wrath of the party, actors turned politicians Tapas Pal and Shatabdi Roy.

West Bengal Industry Minister and senior TMC leader Partha Chatterjee said the disciplinary committee of the outfit on Sept 27 decided to suspend the journalist turned politician for flouting discipline of the party.

He said Ghosh continued to speak against the party despite a showcause notice to him served on Sept 20.

While addressing a blood donation camp organised by fellow TMC MP Somen Mitra and his wife, MLA Shikha Mitra, who are not in good terms with Mamata now, Kunal Ghosh, Tapas Pal and Shatabdi Roy alleged that the party top brass is ignorant of the "sacrifices" made by others in its growth.

Earlier the same day, an alleged key beneficiary in the Saradha ponzi scheme meltdown, Kunal Ghosh, said he is being wrongly indicted in the case.

"The Saradha incident has been dumped upon me. I have written to the Chief Minister and said I am ready to face the entire probe. But you can't put me in front and hide yourself," Kunal Ghosh was quoted as saying by a TV channel.

Ghosh had further said, "I have always gone to all investigations without saying a thing that could embarrass the party. But in the coming days I might have to open my mouth. In fact, I am apprehending an attack on my life."
